For diaspora* podmins

How it works

For diaspora* podmins

Keep your pod, your people and your domain. Open them to the whole fediverse.

A diaspora* pod joined to Mastodon and the fediverse through Disbigle

Migrate in place

Disbigle can take over a diaspora* pod on the same domain. Handles, RSA keys and GUIDs stay the same, so remote contacts do not notice the change.

And from the first start, every account is also followable from Mastodon.

What gets imported

  • Users and profiles
  • Private keys and GUIDs
  • Contacts and aspects
  • Posts and photos
  • Comments, likes and polls
  • Private conversations
  • Passwords: bcrypt hashes upgraded at first login
  • Old URLs redirected

How it goes

Read-only

Put the pod in read-only mode and make a backup.

Import

The importer reads the diaspora* database, PostgreSQL or MySQL.

Switch

Point the domain to Disbigle. Files stay where they are.

Welcome back

Users sign in with their old password.

Status

The importer is written and tested on fixtures. The first real migration will be diaspo.it, the Italian pod. Want to be next? Write to [email protected].
